Breast Cancer Surgery

1. Oncoplastic BREAST-CONSERVING Surgery

  • Treatment of breast cancers can be optimized using plastic surgical techniques to minimize scars and preserve the breast shape

  • Breast reshaping by moving tissue within the breast after lumpectomy

  • Partial breast reconstruction by replacing volume loss from cancer lumpectomy with local tissue flaps to avoid mastectomy

  • Therapeutic Mammaplasty - breast-conserving cancer surgery performed with simultaneous breast reduction surgery

2. Mastectomy

  • Total Mastectomy where it is not safe or feasible to preserve the breast due to factors of the underlying disease

  • Skin sparing and Nipple Sparing Mastectomy to facilitate immediate breast reconstruction

  • Risk-reduction (Prophylactic) surgery with or without immediate breast reconstruction for women at high risk of familial breast cancer

3. Axillary Surgery

  • Sentinel Node biopsy, Targeted Axillary Dissection (TAD) and conventional

4. Breast Reconstruction

Benign Breast Surgery

7. Functional Breast Reduction for symptomatic large breasts (Macromastia) (patients will require a referral from their GP indicating symptoms (i.e., shoulder pain, neck pain, back pain, etc.) from their large breasts.

  • Wise-pattern breast reduction

  • Vertical-pattern breast reduction

  • No vertical scar breast reduction

8. Breast Implant revision surgery

  • Breast implant removal or exchange due to complications from previous breast augmentation or reconstruction surgery, such as

    • Implant rupture

    • Implant malposition

    • Capsule contracture

    • Risk of breast implant-related disease i.e., Breast-Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), Breast Implant Illness (BII)
