What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment to complete a registration form.

Please bring the following to your consultation:

  • Referral letter from a general practitioner or specialist

  • All relevant imaging and their reports (including ultrasound, CT and MRI)

  • Your Medicare card

  • Private health insurance details

The information from your registration form, health questionnaire and aforementioned documents will be recorded and used for the primary purpose of providing care for your presenting problem, including administrative and billing purposes.  It may also be disclosed to other healthcare professionals or relevant parties with your consent.

What happens at my first appointment?

When you call the main rooms you will be given the option of seeing Jeremy at any one of his consulting suites.  At the time his friendly staff will ask you to bring along all your imaging films and your GP referral, if you have one.

Patients are most welcome to bring along a close friend of relative for support if they wish.

During your consultation Jeremy will take a history and perform a physical examination, including any bedside ultrasound or procedures  and also prescribe relevant medications as appropriate.  At the end of the consultation, Jeremy will then arrange for his staff to organise further investigations (such as core biopsies or imaging), specialist referrals as well as any review appointments as necessary.

Should you forget to ask anything simply phone or email the rooms.

From diagnosis, through to treatment and recovery, Jeremy will be there for you with a trusted treatment team to make the process more bearable.

Private or Public Hospital Treatment?

TO CONSULT WITH DR JEREMY KHOO

Jeremy accepts GP referrals for patients to consult at any of his consulting locations right across Brisbane. You do not need private health insurance for a consultation; private health insurance status only affects where you may wish to have your surgery.

To have surgery with Dr Jeremy Khoo

If you need surgery, Jeremy has private admitting rights to the following hospitals to enable all his patients to be treated conveniently and expediently.

Private Hospitals:

  • Sunnybank Private Hospital

  • The Wesley Hospital

Privately insured patients

Patients holding private hospital cover continuously for more than twelve months are treated in one of Jeremy’s private hospitals expeditiously with no wait-list. Jeremy will perform the surgery himself and then personally manage and be contactable for all aftercare via his private rooms.

Uninsured patients

Patients who do not have private health insurance have two options:

  • Uninsured patients can be referred on to Dr Jeremy Khoo’s public waiting lists at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. Medicare covers the costs of surgery. Aftercare is provided through public clinics.

  • Alternatively, if an uninsured patient does not want to wait on a public elective waitlist and/or wants to guarantee that Jeremy himself performs their surgery, they can elect to expedite their surgery in a private hospital on a date of their choosing for a privately quoted fee. In such cases, patients are not obligated to undertake any further surgery or postoperative treatments in private and can switch back to the public setting at any time.
